Winners of the 2022 Caribbean Sustainable Tourism Awards competition have been announced. The awards, which are hosted by the Caribbean Tourism Organisation, were announced on 15 February 2023 via a virtual awards ceremony.

The awards were conceptualized by the CTO in 2000 to celebrate the beginning of the new millennium and to promote the sustainable development of tourism in the Caribbean.

Their aim is to identify and highlight good practices in sustainable tourism throughout the Caribbean. Targets include entrepreneurs, destination management organisations, tourism businesses and other sector entities. Specific interest is in those who develop innovative tourism products, services and experiences. Additionally, there is interest in those who implement them whilst adhering to sustainable tourism practices.

Neil Walters, Acting Secretary General of the CTO made opening remarks at the virtual awards function. He explained that the awards are a platform that recognise those who advance sustainable tourism development in the Caribbean. He also said that the core of the CTO’s efforts is to advocate for sustainability of Caribbean tourism.
