The Caribbean Joins New Airbnb Campaign

Endless Caribbean - The Caribbean Joins New Airbnb Campaign

The new Airbnb campaign Live and Work Anywhere has a new partner. The Caribbean Tourism Organisation (CTO) and its partners in the Caribbean are now part of the campaign. The partnership, which went live in mid-2022, targets remote workers looking to live and work anywhere in the Caribbean. There are many benefits of the campaign for both remote workers and participating countries. Remote workers have access to a central directory for places to stay in the Caribbean. Also, the campaign supports efforts to revive tourism after a couple rough years defined by travel restrictions.

Airbnb statistics on the Caribbean region show promising growth:

  • The share of nights booked for long term stays in Q1 2022 almost doubled compared to the same period in 2019.
  • In Q1 2019, almost 6% of all bookings were for long term stays, while in Q1 2022 this percentage reached almost 10%.
  • The number of nights booked for long term stays tripled in Q1’22 compared to Q1’19.

Work From The Caribbean Campaign

As a result of the improvements in bookings for the Caribbean, the CTO and Airbnb’s campaign “Work from the Caribbean” was launched. The campaign highlights and promotes Caribbean destinations through a landing page. The landing page provides information for digital nomads who want to work from home in the Caribbean. For each participating country, there are recommendations for places to stay. There are also links to the individual tourism authorities which share and information about visas and relocating.

To date, participating countries are Anguilla, Antigua & Barbuda, Barbados, Belize, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Dominica, Guyana, Martinique, Montserrat, St. Eustatius, St. Kitts, St. Lucia, St. Maarten and Trinidad.

Faye Gill, CTO Director of Membership Services believes that the recovery of Caribbean tourism depends on “innovation and a willingness to seize opportunities.” The new Airbnb campaign is an example of this and also highlights Airbnb’s commitment to the region. Airbnb Policy Manager for Central America and the Caribbean Carlos Muñoz said Airbnb was proud to partner with the CTO and promote a wonderful region.
