The 50th BVI Spring Regatta & Sailing Festival is on schedule for March 27 to April 02, 2023. This event, which is a highly anticipated event on the Caribbean sailing calendar is promising warm water and hot racing. The organising authority of the event comprises the BVI Spring Regatta and Sailing Festival and the Royal BVI Yacht Club. Because the event is celebrating its 50th year, interest is high, and many are expecting an exciting sailing festival.
Notice of Race
The Notice of Race outlines several important guidelines for the event. They include the rules of the regatta, advertising requirements for boats, eligibility and entry, classes, entry fees, registration and festival schedule, sailing instructions, penalties, and scoring.
Races are open to boats of specific classes. These are:
- CSA Spinnaker including Racer/Cruiser
- Offshore Multihull and Sport Multihull
- CSA Performance Cruiser, Jib and Main, Bareboat, Multihull, Cruising Multihull
- One Design Classes
Additionally, each boat should have a minimum of two crew, unless otherwise stated by the class rules.
Registration and Schedule
Registration for the sailing festival and the spring regatta will open on Monday, 27 March 2023 from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
The racing schedule for the festival is as follows:
- March 28: Sailing Festival
- March 29: Sailing Festival
- March 31 – Apr 02: BVI Spring Regatta
Travelling to the British Virgin Islands
Visitors travelling to the BVI from the North America or Europe can connect via San Juan, Puerto Rico (SJU), Antigua and Barbuda (ANU), St. Maarten (SXM) or St. Thomas (STT). Options for travellers from Europe include air travel on Virgin Atlantic or British Airways to Antigua or Barbados. Travellers from North America can fly into San Juan and then connect to BVI by Cape air, one of the event sponsors. Alternatively, there is also an option to fly into St. Thomas and connect to BVI via ocean ferry.
